Media Release - WAFL Count Me In promotes inclusion

• People of all abilities encouraged to get involved with sport and recreation 

The State Government's Count Me In vision is again being celebrated at this weekend's West Australian Football League (WAFL) round five games.

The Count Me In Round, now in its third year, highlights the importance of access and inclusion in sport and recreation and the need for such important community activities to be welcoming for everyone.

Disability Services Minister Donna Faragher said the initiative reflected the Government's vision that we all lived in communities that encouraged citizenship, friendship, mutual support and a fair go for everyone.

"It is important everyone in our community, including people with disability, have the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of getting involved in sport and recreation - it's such a big part of our culture in Western Australia," Mrs Faragher said.

"The Count Me In Round is not only a great day out at the footy, but also serves as a reminder about the ways people can get involved in community sporting life, whether it's as a spectator, player or as part of a football club."

People with disability, their friends and family will receive free entry to the Count Me In Round games this weekend when they present a Companion Card.

The initiative will be promoted at the Round 5 league games involving East Fremantle vs Claremont, East Perth vs West Perth and Perth vs South Fremantle on Saturday April 16 and Swan Districts vs Subiaco, on Sunday April 17.
