Commerce Minister Michael Mischin said Ms Driscoll was appointed following a local and interstate recruitment process and had been acting in the role since former Director General Brian Bradley retired last year. Mr Mischin said Ms Driscoll was eminently qualified for the position, having served for more than 15 years in the department, including as Commissioner for Consumer Protection. "Ms Driscoll has served in numerous leadership roles and I am confident she will successfully provide strategic direction and oversight of the Department of Commerce," he said. "She has managed the department with skill and dedication since the retirement of Mr Bradley, and I congratulate her on the appointment to the role." Fact File
