Seniors and Volunteering Minister Paul Miles said the Liberal National Government had provided more than $82,000 through the Seniors Week Community Grants Program to local governments and community groups to host celebrations. Events range from social lunches and days out, to informative talks and presentations, race days and a mini-Olympics. "The State Government is proud to recognise and celebrate the contributions seniors make and ensure they remain connected to their friends, families and communities," Mr Miles said. "It is wonderful to see so many varied events on offer and I encourage all seniors to attend an event near them and make the most of the activities on offer." In addition to the community events, the annual Have a Go Day will be held at Burswood Park on Wednesday, November 9. Have a Go Day is organised by the Seniors Recreation Council of WA and features a range of activities including pole walking, wall climbing and a bake off. "I'm looking forward to attending this highly anticipated event, meeting some of the many organisations taking part, and trying my hand at a few new activities on the day," the Minister said.
