"World on a Plate" Multicultural Feast - Free Community Event MCRC partnered with our comrades Manjimup Family Centre to present an evening of international cuisine, through grant funding from LINKWEST and our own centre's financial contributions. We gave 10 chiefs $100 to create signature dishes from their homeland, we then invited our community to come and enjoy a night of multicultural harmony. And we are delighted to advise, it was an overwhelming success! With wonderful feedback and requests to have an annual celebration! Thank you to all our wonderful volunteers, LINKWEST for their financial contribution, and most importantly Andre Foulon and his team down the road at the Manjimup Family Centre! Well done Manjimup, we salute "Neighbourhood House Week" and we salute our community for your support! Regards Ranui Harris Centre Manager Fri 13 May | 6.00pm - 8.00pm | Manjimup Town Hall
Jointly hosted by the Manjimup Family Centre and Manjimup Community Resource Centre, this event will put the world on a plate, with members of local cultural groups – such as Thai, Chinese, German, Afghan and Indian – cooking traditional dishes which will be served at a multicultural community dinner. “Sharing food from a range of cultural backgrounds brings us together as a community and increases our understanding of world events.” said the Hon. Terry Redman, Minister for Regional Development; Lands, who is unfortunately unable to attend this launch event. “Congratulations to all Neighbourhood Centres as you celebrate this week, showcasing the important role you play in our communities.” http://www.linkwest.asn.au/communications?command=article&id=2342&contact_id=1765&message_id=636&utm_source=communications&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Neighbourhood+House+Week+launch+events
A new and improved website has launched for DFES’ fire and natural hazard school resources including Bushfire Patrol. The webpage contains a suite of educational materials, including classroom lesson plans, teaching resources and interactive activities on fire, natural hazards, safety and emergency prevention for school-aged children. A new Kids page provides young children with easy access to our interactive Bushfire Patrol games, the Be Safe Around Water App and new colouring in pages. The webpage is designed for primary school teachers and support staff, school-aged children from pre-school through to Year 12 and parents of school children. Career fire fighters and volunteers are also welcome to access the site and will find it much easier to navigate than the previous webpage. All resources are evidence-based, drawing on present research and practice in the field of disaster and resilience education. DFES actively participates in the Disaster Resilient Australia New Zealand Schools Education Network (DRANZSEN) and has developed a five year School Aged Education Strategy in consultation with researchers, DFES operational staff and leaders within the WA education sector.
